Jignesh Barot

In July 2025 his family built a shrine in front of their house to a broken Bajaj Super, and that scooter explains his career better than any of the fourteen film soundtracks he is credited on.

Scooter with a memorial built in front of the house

Jignesh Barot, who works as Jignesh Kaviraj, had 2,117,869 followers when we scraped his Instagram on 29 July 2026, second only to Kinjal Dave among Gujarati artists we have measured. There is no English encyclopedia entry for him. His bio carries no link to a YouTube channel, no website, no label, only an instruction to send a direct message for paid promotion and show enquiries. What the press record does contain is two documents five years apart: a February 2020 interview in which he described a career already fourteen years old, and a July 2025 national news story about his father building a memorial to a dead scooter. Read together they describe a business almost nobody outside north Gujarat has looked at properly.

The arc

01A shrine for a two wheeler

On 20 July 2025 NDTV reported that the family of a popular Gujarati singer had built a memorial for an old scooter beside their ancestral house at Kheralu in Mehsana district. The vehicle was a Bajaj Super, a model discontinued in 2006. His father Hasmukh Barot was photographed putting a tika on it, garlanding the handlebars and wrapping it in a shawl.

The singer's own Instagram post, quoted by NDTV in translation, explains the object: "This is my father's scooter, on which he and I used to go from village to village for programmes in the early days of my career. We have given this scooter a memorial in front of our house." His father put it more bluntly: "This scooter was my life, so I built a memorial for it. I will tell my children that this scooter brought joy to our lives. They must light lamps before this memorial during Diwali."

Strip the sentiment out and you are left with a logistics fact. The dayro and folk circuit is not a venue business, it is a road business. Villages, temple compounds, wedding grounds, katha stages, none of them reachable by anything except a two wheeler with two men and a harmonium on it. The family enshrined the distribution network.

02Fourteen years before anybody wrote it down

The Times of India entertainment desk interviewed him on 20 February 2020 and reported that he was based in Kheralu near Mehsana, came from a musical family, had been working for over fourteen years and had lent his voice to songs in more than fourteen films. That interview appears to be the earliest substantial piece of English language reporting about him, and by the time it ran he had been a working professional since roughly 2006.

The films it refers to are largely undocumented. Not one of the titles has an English encyclopedia page, which is why this page reports the count as the newspaper's claim rather than restating it as a verified filmography. What is checkable on a streaming catalogue is Baby Bewafa, credited to him and attached to the film Lagan Laagii Re. One traceable film song and a newspaper saying there are more than fourteen is an honest summary of the paperwork behind a two million follower career.

03The bevafa business

The song titles tell you what the material is. Baby Bewafa. Maru Aa Dil Tara Baap Ni Jagir Nathi, which is roughly this heart of mine is not your father's estate. Time Pass Tuto Mara Prem Ma Kari Gai. Hath Ma Chhe Whiskey, the record the Times of India named as the one that made him. This is the bevafa song, the north Gujarat register of betrayal and drink and injured pride, and it is a genre with an enormous audience and close to no critical literature.

He described the work himself in that same interview: "Singing has been my true passion and living by it, I very often perform live at Morari Bapu's Katha event and at the events of Bhaguda Mogal Dham. Music has its own way of attracting people. Sometimes language does not matter when you enjoy the song and its music." Note what sits either side of that sentence. Devotional katha stages on one hand, whiskey songs on the other, the same voice, the same week. That range is normal on this circuit and almost impossible to explain to anyone who thinks Gujarati music is either garba or bhajan.

04Two million followers and nowhere to send them

His profile on 29 July 2026 held 2,117,869 followers across 3,068 posts, follows 187 accounts, is platform verified and is categorised as musician or band. The entire bio is two lines: an instruction to send a direct message for paid promotion and show enquiries, and an invocation to Jadiyavir Dada.

Compare that with everyone else we scraped the same day. Kinjal Dave links her YouTube channel. Kajal Maheriya links hers. Gaman Santhal links his. Urvashi Radadiya links hers. He links nothing. There is no funnel, no catalogue to click through to, no monetised back end that a follower can reach. The follower count is not an audience he sells advertising against, it is a queue of event organisers, and the only call to action he needs is a direct message.

The work that matters

Baby Bewafa, from Lagan Laagii Re

Chosen over his bigger singles because it is the one film credit that survives independent checking. On a career the newspapers describe as spanning more than fourteen films, exactly one song is traceable to a released soundtrack, and that gap is the single most useful fact on this page.

Hath Ma Chhe Whiskey

The Times of India named this as the record after which he gained renown. It matters because it is the least respectable song in his catalogue and the one the mainstream press reached for first, which tells you where the audience actually was.

Upar Kach Ka Bangla Niche Sharbat Ki Dukan 2020

The release he was promoting when the interview ran. Included because it is dated, sourced and ordinary, and a career this large deserves at least one point on the timeline that is not a viral moment.

The scooter post 2025

Not a song. An Instagram post in Gujarati about his father's Bajaj Super that carried him to national television news, which no recording of his has ever done. For a folk artist in 2025, the biography is the product.

The film count is presented as a newspaper claim because the films themselves have no independent pages to check it against. Everything else on this page was read directly from the source named.

Questions people ask

Is Jignesh Barot the same person as Jignesh Kaviraj?

Yes. Jignesh Kaviraj is the performing name and Barot is the family name. His Instagram account runs under jigneshbarotofficial while press coverage, including the NDTV report on the scooter memorial, calls him Jignesh Kaviraj.

How many followers does Jignesh Barot have?

2,117,869 on Instagram across 3,068 posts when we scraped the platform verified account on 29 July 2026. That is the second largest Gujarati music following this project has recorded, behind Kinjal Dave.

Why did his family build a memorial to a scooter?

NDTV reported on 20 July 2025 that the Bajaj Super had carried him and his father from village to village for shows in the early years of his career. His father Hasmukh Barot said he could not bring himself to sell it as scrap and built the memorial in front of the house at Kheralu instead.

How many films has Jignesh Barot sung in?

The Times of India reported in February 2020 that he had sung in more than fourteen films. Those titles have no independent pages to verify against, so this page treats the number as a newspaper claim. The one film song traceable on a released soundtrack is Baby Bewafa from Lagan Laagii Re.

What kind of songs does Jignesh Barot sing?

Bhajan and lokgeet alongside the bevafa songs, the north Gujarat register of heartbreak and drink. He told the Times of India he performs regularly at Morari Bapu's katha events and at Bhaguda Mogal Dham, and separately his best known record is Hath Ma Chhe Whiskey.
