18 Gujarati News Channels and Media Brands, Mapped by Verified Reach

The short answer

The largest Gujarati news brand on YouTube is TV9 Gujarati with 4.98 million subscribers, followed by News18 Gujarati at 4.48 million, ABP Asmita at 3.95 million and VTV Gujarati at 3.48 million. On total views News18 Gujarati leads with 4.05 billion. On views per upload the winner is BBC News Gujarati, which averages around 28,800 views on each of its 29,121 videos and has now overtaken Sandesh News on lifetime views using roughly one ninth as many uploads. Every figure on this page was captured on 29 July 2026.

Gujarati news is an industry, not a genre. Behind the eighteen brands on this page sit Reliance, Zee, the ABP group of Kolkata, the India Today group, the BBC, Prasar Bharati, D B Corp, and two family newspaper houses that have been printing since 1863 and 1923. They compete for roughly sixty million Gujarati speakers across Gujarat, Mumbai, East Africa, the Gulf, Britain and the United States, and almost all of that competition now happens on a phone.

What that competition looks like in numbers is the point of this page. Some of these newsrooms upload three hundred and fifty thousand videos and win on volume. One uploads twenty nine thousand and wins on patience. A newspaper founded before the first war of Indian independence has two hundred and fifteen thousand followers on Instagram and five and a half thousand subscribers on YouTube, which tells you exactly which platform a 163 year old masthead was able to learn. Everything below was captured on 29 July 2026, from the brand's own channel page and from a live scrape of its own social account, with nothing taken on trust from a media kit.

The list at a glance

YouTube figures read from each brand's own about page and Instagram figures scraped live from each profile, both on 29 July 2026. Ownership is stated as recorded on Wikipedia or on the brand's own account. Both platforms round large numbers and both move daily.

How this list was built

Every brand here had to clear three tests on 29 July 2026. First, a language gate: the most recent uploads had to be in Gujarati, checked by reading the six newest video titles on each channel. That gate is why several large Gujarat facing news operations publishing in Hindi are absent, and it is the same gate applied to the creator pages on this site. Second, a data gate: subscriber count, lifetime view total, video count and channel start date had to be read off the brand's own YouTube about page rather than taken from an analytics site or a press release. Third, an identity gate: each brand needed an Instagram account confirmed by a live Apify scrape whose bio, display name or external link tied it to the same organisation. Accounts that returned an empty bio and a bare name match were rejected as unverified, which is why Mantavya News at 213 thousand subscribers and Akila of Rajkot are not on this page. AIR News Gujarat, the Akashvani regional news unit, was checked at 16.7 thousand subscribers and could not be matched to a confirmed account either. I am Gujarat, the Times Internet product, and India News Gujarat of the ITV Network both cleared verification but sit below the cut on reach. Circulation and readership claims were the hardest thing to handle honestly here: several of these brands describe themselves as the largest or the most read in their own bios, and where a figure could not be checked against an independent record it has been reported as the brand's own claim or left out entirely. No circulation number is asserted on this page as fact.

The four biggest newsrooms

Four Gujarati television news channels sit above three million YouTube subscribers, and three of the four are the regional arms of national networks. Between them they have uploaded more than one and a quarter million videos, which is the clearest sign that Gujarati news treats YouTube as its primary distribution rather than as a highlights reel.

1TV9 Gujarati

TV9 Gujarati@tv9gujaratiView profile

YouTube subscribers: 4.98 million · Lifetime views: 3.27 billion · Videos: 348,327 · Channel started: 8 May 2013 · Group: TV9 Network · Instagram followers: 1.93 million

TV9 Gujarati has more YouTube subscribers than any other Gujarati news brand and calls itself, in its own channel description, Gujarat's number one news channel and the first 24 hour Gujarati television news station operating from Ahmedabad. Its tagline sits underneath in transliterated Gujarati: garv chhe Gujarati chhu, proud to be Gujarati. 348,327 videos since May 2013 and 3.27 billion views, which is about ninety uploads a day sustained for thirteen years.

The per video maths is more revealing than the subscriber count. Those 3.27 billion views spread across 348 thousand uploads work out at roughly 9,400 views per video, which is a low figure for the biggest channel in a language, and it is what a rolling bulletin operation looks like when every clip becomes its own URL. The Instagram account is platform verified with 1.93 million followers and the bio states plainly that it is the official page of TV9 Gujarati from the TV9 Network. Its external link points at tv9gujarati.com, the newsroom's own property.

2News18 Gujarati

News18 Gujarati@news18gujaratiView profile

YouTube subscribers: 4.48 million · Lifetime views: 4.05 billion · Videos: 277,229 · Channel started: 5 October 2016 · Group: Network18, majority owned by Reliance Industries · Instagram followers: 2.24 million

News18 Gujarati has half a million fewer subscribers than TV9 Gujarati and 780 million more views. 4.05 billion against 3.27 billion, from 71 thousand fewer uploads. On a per video basis that makes it the most watched of the four big newsrooms at roughly 14,600 views per upload, half again what TV9 manages. It is the single clearest case on this page of subscriber counts being the wrong scoreboard.

The channel description switches from English to Gujarati halfway through and, in the Gujarati half, states the actual remit: it keeps Gujaratis living inside Gujarat and outside it updated in their own language. That is a diaspora promise written into a channel bio. It launched in October 2016 under Network18, the conglomerate in which Reliance Industries holds the controlling stake, and it feeds a companion Gujarati news website. Its Instagram account is platform verified with 2.24 million followers, the second largest Instagram following of any Gujarati news brand here.

3ABP Asmita

ABP Asmita@abpasmitatvView profile

YouTube subscribers: 3.95 million · Lifetime views: 2.58 billion · Videos: 351,159 · Channel started: 19 November 2015 · Group: ABP Network, part of the ABP Group founded in Kolkata in 1922 · Instagram followers: 555 thousand

ABP Asmita has uploaded more videos than anything else on this page, 351,159 of them since November 2015, which is close to a hundred a day for a decade. Those uploads have drawn 2.58 billion views, an average of about 7,400 per video, the lowest efficiency figure of the big four. The channel is the Gujarati arm of the ABP Network, whose parent ABP Group was founded in Kolkata in 1922 and named after the Bengali daily Ananda Bazar Patrika.

What the about page shows is a brand trying to leave YouTube's house. The first outbound link is an app install prompt, the second is the Gujarati edition of ABP Live, and Telegram and Facebook follow. Its Instagram account carries 555 thousand followers, by far the smallest Instagram audience among the big four, and the bio is a straight description of the remit rather than a slogan: a 24 hour regional news channel broadcasting in the Gujarati language, followed by an invitation to follow for reels in Gujarati.

Instagram: @abpasmitatv (verified 2026-07-29).

4VTV Gujarati

VTV Gujarati@vtv_gujarati_newsView profile

YouTube subscribers: 3.48 million · Lifetime views: 1.49 billion · Videos: 199,158 · Channel started: 6 January 2012 · Operated by: Sambhaav Nascent LLP · Instagram followers: 1.13 million

VTV Gujarati is the oldest of the big Gujarati news channels on YouTube, live since January 2012, a year before TV9 Gujarati and four before News18. It is also the only one of the four that does not present itself purely as a bulletin service. Its own Instagram bio describes the mix as news, entertainment and young India's voice, and the channel name on YouTube reads News and Beyond.

It is operated by Sambhaav Nascent LLP, the name that appears as the account holder on its verified Instagram profile, which carries 1.13 million followers and takes business enquiries at a VTV address. 199,158 uploads have produced 1.49 billion views, roughly 7,500 per video, and the single outbound link from the YouTube about page now goes to a WhatsApp channel rather than to a website. That is where a large share of Gujarati news actually travels, forwarded between family groups rather than clicked from a homepage.

Instagram: @vtv_gujarati_news (verified 2026-07-29).

The challengers

Six more television newsrooms, one of them barely two years old on YouTube and already at 313 thousand subscribers, one of them a Saurashtra operation that has been filing from Rajkot since long before any of this. This is where the Gujarati news market is actually fought.

5Zee 24 Kalak

Zee 24 Kalak@zee24kalakView profile

YouTube subscribers: 2.23 million · Lifetime views: 1.77 billion · Videos: 233,487 · Channel started: 8 May 2017 · Group: Zee Media Corporation Limited · Instagram followers: 3.08 million

Zee 24 Kalak has the largest Instagram following of any Gujarati news brand at 3.08 million, comfortably more than its 2.23 million YouTube subscribers, and it is the only news entry on this page where that inversion holds by such a margin. On YouTube it sits fifth by subscribers, but its 1.77 billion views from 233,487 uploads put it ahead of VTV Gujarati on total watch volume despite launching five years later.

Its own bio calls it Gujarat's number one 24 by 7 news channel, which is a television ratings claim rather than a YouTube one and is quoted here as the brand's own words. Its YouTube description positions it inside Zee Media Corporation, formerly Zee News Limited, a network the company says runs ten news channels in different languages. The about page's two outbound links go to a live TV stream and to the Gujarati section of the group's national news site, which is a broadcaster's instinct rather than a publisher's.

Instagram: @zee24kalak (verified 2026-07-29).

6Sandesh News

Sandesh News@sandeshnewsView profile

YouTube subscribers: 2.22 million · Lifetime views: 831 million · Videos: 268,646 · Channel started: 23 October 2012 · Group: The Sandesh Limited, newspaper founded 1923 · Instagram followers: 1.90 million

Sandesh is the closest thing Gujarati journalism has to an institution. The newspaper began publishing in Ahmedabad in 1923, was bought from its founder in 1958 by Chimanbhai S. Patel and has been a core business of The Sandesh Limited ever since, printing city editions from Surat, Vadodara, Rajkot, Bhavnagar and Bhuj plus an international edition out of Chicago. Its television channel opened on YouTube in October 2012.

The video numbers are the uncomfortable part. 268,646 uploads have produced 831 million views, about 3,100 per video, the lowest of any major Gujarati news channel and roughly a third of what TV9 manages per clip. A legacy print name does not automatically convert into a video audience. Where it does convert is everywhere else: the Instagram account is platform verified with 1.90 million followers, the group runs its own apps on both stores, and the channel page funnels hard into Telegram and WhatsApp. Its own YouTube description describes a media house that has spent ninety nine years informing six crore Gujaratis, which is the company's claim rather than an audited figure.

7GSTV News

GSTV News@gstvnewsView profile

YouTube subscribers: 1.17 million · Lifetime views: 1.43 billion · Videos: 245,221 · Channel started: 21 October 2014 · Instagram followers: 1.48 million

GSTV is the most underrated set of numbers in Gujarati news. 1.17 million subscribers puts it ninth on this page, but 1.43 billion lifetime views puts it sixth, ahead of Sandesh News, BBC News Gujarati and Gujarat Tak combined. 245,221 uploads since October 2014 at roughly 5,800 views each. Its Instagram account carries 1.48 million followers, which is more than its YouTube subscriber base and more than ABP Asmita and Gujarat Tak have between them.

The reporting is where the identity sits. Recent uploads run to a tribal family in Umargam returning to the fields after a flood, a child killed by a live current on a Surat school terrace, farmers in Dwarka putting up banners against a pipeline company, and a weather warning for Saurashtra and east Gujarat. That is district reporting rather than studio debate, and it is filed under city datelines rather than under a state headline. The channel describes itself simply as a leading 24 by 7 Gujarati news channel and links to its own live stream at gstv.in.

Instagram: @gstvnews (verified 2026-07-29).

8Gujarat First

Gujarat First@gujaratfirstView profile

YouTube subscribers: 678 thousand · Lifetime views: 478 million · Videos: 93,506 · Channel started: 24 January 2022 · Instagram followers: 1.73 million

Gujarat First opened its YouTube channel on 24 January 2022, the newest arrival among the established Gujarati television newsrooms, and has put up 93,506 videos for 478 million views in four and a half years. Its channel description is written entirely in Gujarati and reads like a positioning line drafted by someone who knew what they were doing: a 24 by 7 Gujarati news channel, the fastest, the most accurate, becoming everyone's first choice, because we are with you and for you.

The striking number is elsewhere. Its verified Instagram account carries 1.73 million followers against 678 thousand YouTube subscribers, a ratio of two and a half to one, the widest gap of any television newsroom on this page. A channel that launched in 2022 was never going to out upload ABP Asmita's decade of bulletins, so it built its audience where a four year old brand can still win, which is the reels feed. That is the correct strategy for a late entrant and the numbers say it worked.

Instagram: @gujaratfirst (verified 2026-07-29).

9NewsCapital Gujarat

NewsCapital Gujarat@newscapitalgjView profile

YouTube subscribers: 313 thousand · Lifetime views: 147 million · Videos: 39,878 · Channel started: 12 February 2024 · Instagram followers: 738 thousand

NewsCapital is the youngest brand on this page by a distance. Its YouTube channel opened on 12 February 2024 and in roughly two and a half years has posted 39,878 videos for 147 million views, an average of 3,700 views per upload. Its Instagram account already has 738 thousand followers, more than twice its YouTube subscriber count, and the bio carries the sharpest line any Gujarati newsroom has written about itself: not breaking news, here you will get verified news.

Whether the newsroom lives up to that is a separate question, but the positioning is a deliberate answer to what a decade of clip driven Gujarati television did to the category. The recent feed mixes a land allotment dispute in a Girsomnath village, a Guru Purnima address by Morari Bapu, a minister inaugurating an Ahmedabad experience centre in Scotland, a daily horoscope and a sponsored cooking segment. That combination of hard district reporting and lifestyle filler is what a modern Gujarati news channel actually publishes, and this one is honest enough to run it all in the same feed.

Instagram: @newscapitalgj (verified 2026-07-29).

10Abtak Media

Abtak Media@abtak.mediaView profile

YouTube subscribers: 270 thousand · Lifetime views: 65.5 million · Videos: 82,302 · Channel started: 31 May 2016 · Base: Rajkot and Saurashtra · Instagram followers: 85.8 thousand

Abtak is the Saurashtra newsroom on this list and its own Instagram bio says so without hedging: the leading news network of Saurashtra and Gujarat. 82,302 uploads since May 2016 for 65.5 million views, which is about 800 views per video, the lowest per upload figure on this entire page. That number is not a failure, it is a description of what a regional network does. It files everything, from every taluka, whether or not the state cares.

The recent feed proves the point. A cooperative bank building inaugurated in Jamnagar by the union home minister. A Guru Purnima explainer. A safe vault fraud in Surat with a father and sons arrested. Postal department employees wearing black badges and threatening a strike. A cow and a calf electrocuted at a Botad gate, with residents demanding wire fencing. No national newsroom is covering that last story, and that is exactly the gap Abtak exists to fill. It also runs a separate digital handle, and its main account links back to abtakmedia.com, which is how it was confirmed.

Instagram: @abtak.media (verified 2026-07-29).

Digital first and global

Three brands here have no television bulletin to clip and have to earn every view on the merit of the piece. One of them is the most efficient Gujarati news publisher in the world by a wide margin, and it is not Indian.

11BBC News Gujarati

BBC News Gujarati@bbcnewsgujaratiView profile

YouTube subscribers: 1.53 million · Lifetime views: 839 million · Videos: 29,121 · Channel started: 14 September 2017 · Produced by: Collective Newsroom, for the BBC · Instagram followers: 1.15 million

BBC News Gujarati has published 29,121 videos. Sandesh News has published 268,646. BBC News Gujarati has 839 million lifetime views. Sandesh News has 831 million. Read those four numbers together and the whole logic of Gujarati news video falls apart: the BBC has overtaken a ninety nine year old Gujarati media house on total views while uploading roughly one video for every nine that Sandesh puts out.

The reason is format, not budget. Instead of clipping every bulletin into its own URL, BBC News Gujarati publishes reported pieces and explainers, so each video has a shelf life measured in months rather than in hours. That produces about 28,800 views per upload, three times what any Indian Gujarati newsroom on this page manages and nine times what Sandesh gets. Its Gujarati channel description states that it is published for the BBC by Collective Newsroom, the independent company the BBC's Indian language services moved to, and its verified Instagram account with 1.15 million followers repeats the same line in Gujarati.

Instagram: @bbcnewsgujarati (verified 2026-07-29).

12Gujarat Tak

Gujarat Tak@gujarattakdigitalView profile

YouTube subscribers: 1.49 million · Lifetime views: 768 million · Videos: 42,931 · Channel started: 11 April 2019 · Group: India Today group · Instagram followers: 230 thousand

Gujarat Tak is the India Today group's Gujarati arm and the second most efficient publisher on this page. 42,931 uploads since April 2019 have produced 768 million views, roughly 17,900 per video, behind only BBC News Gujarati and well ahead of every television newsroom. It carries 1.49 million subscribers on a video count that is one eighth of what TV9 and ABP Asmita have posted.

The Tak brand was built as a digital first, mobile first news product rather than as a television channel that later opened a YouTube account, and the difference shows in the arithmetic. Its own bio describes it as part of the India Today group and as a platform for people to raise their voice on issues they feel strongly about, which is a participation pitch rather than a broadcast one. The verified Instagram account is small by comparison at 230 thousand followers and runs its links through a Linktree, which is a creator's habit rather than a newsroom's.

Instagram: @gujarattakdigital (verified 2026-07-29).

13CNBC Bajar

CNBC Bajar@cnbc_bajarView profile

YouTube subscribers: 91.3 thousand · Lifetime views: 17.2 million · Videos: 43,485 · Channel started: 12 March 2014 · Claim: India's first business news channel in Gujarati, stated in its own Instagram bio · Instagram followers: 110 thousand

CNBC Bajar describes itself in its own Instagram bio as India's first business news channel in Gujarati, and on the evidence of this page nobody else is competing for the slot. 43,485 videos since March 2014 for 17.2 million views. The subscriber count of 91.3 thousand is the second smallest here and the Instagram following of 110 thousand is larger, which is the standard shape for a niche channel whose audience checks in rather than subscribes.

What it actually publishes is a market desk running in Gujarati. Quarterly results explained in Gujarati script with the ticker in English. Why a particular mill stock fell. The brokerage houses' picks for the day. A daily market strategy segment. Global updates covering a United States Federal Reserve decision and a strike on American air force positions. Gujarat has been a trading state for four hundred years and it has produced a disproportionate share of India's retail investors, so a Gujarati language business channel should be an obvious business. That it has 91.3 thousand subscribers after twelve years says how much room is still left in the category.

Instagram: @cnbc_bajar (verified 2026-07-29).

The public broadcaster

Prasar Bharati runs two Gujarati properties out of Doordarshan Kendra in Ahmedabad and they behave nothing like each other. One has ten times the videos and a third of the audience. Both are worth reading as the state's own record of itself.

14Doordarshan Girnar

Doordarshan Girnar@ddgirnarView profile

YouTube subscribers: 461 thousand · Lifetime views: 66.3 million · Videos: 27,656 · Channel started: 23 April 2013 · Owner: Prasar Bharati, formerly DD-10 Gujarati · Instagram followers: 20.1 thousand

DD Girnar is the Gujarati language channel of Doordarshan, owned and operated by the public broadcaster Prasar Bharati and broadcast from Doordarshan Kendra in Ahmedabad. It was formerly called DD-10 Gujarati and it describes itself in one flat sentence on YouTube as a free to air national channel broadcasting 24 by 7, which is the least promotional line any brand on this page has written about itself.

It carries 461 thousand subscribers from 27,656 videos and 66.3 million views, a per video figure of about 2,400. That is not a competitive number and it was never meant to be one. What DD Girnar holds instead is the only continuous state owned archive of Gujarati programming, culture and public information, going back long before any of the private channels on this page existed. Its Instagram account is modest at 20.1 thousand followers and its bio says the job out loud: bringing stories, programmes and culture for every home.

Instagram: @ddgirnar (verified 2026-07-29).

15DD News Gujarati

DD News Gujarati@ddnewsgujaratiView profile

YouTube subscribers: 190 thousand · Lifetime views: 61.9 million · Videos: 88,930 · Channel started: 12 March 2018 · Owner: Prasar Bharati, Doordarshan Ahmedabad · Instagram followers: 670 thousand

DD News Gujarati is the news wing of the same Ahmedabad operation and it produces the strangest ratio on this page. 190 thousand YouTube subscribers against 670 thousand Instagram followers, a gap of three and a half to one, on a channel that has uploaded 88,930 videos since March 2018 for 61.9 million views. The state's news service is watched far more as a scroll than as a broadcast, and the state appears to know it.

Its Instagram bio opens with three Gujarati words, vaat vishwas ni, a matter of trust, and then identifies itself as the official account of DD News Gujarati Doordarshan, Ahmedabad. The account is platform verified and its external link points at the YouTube channel, which is how the two were tied together. Set against the 3.27 billion views TV9 Gujarati has accumulated, the public broadcaster's 61.9 million is a rounding error, and that comparison is the entire story of what happened to state television in Gujarat after 2010.

Instagram: @ddnewsgujarati (verified 2026-07-29).

The print houses and their digital arms

Three Gujarati newspapers, the oldest founded in 1863 and the youngest in 2003, all three now running social feeds that are ten to forty times larger than their YouTube channels. Print did not die in Gujarat. It moved into the reels tab.

16Divya Bhaskar

Divya Bhaskar@divyabhaskar_inView profile

YouTube subscribers: 138 thousand · Lifetime views: 81.7 million · Videos: 16,916 · Channel started: 26 March 2015 · Owner: D B Corp Ltd · Instagram followers: 2.10 million

Divya Bhaskar is owned by D B Corp Ltd and is one of the highest circulation Gujarati dailies, published with more local editions than any rival: Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara, Rajkot, Jamnagar, Mehsana, Bhuj, Bhavnagar where it appears as Saurashtra Samachar, and Junagadh where it appears as Sorath Bhaskar. Its own YouTube description calls it the world's largest Gujarati website, which is the company's claim and is quoted as such.

The platform split is dramatic. 138 thousand YouTube subscribers from 16,916 videos, against 2.10 million followers on a platform verified Instagram account, a ratio of more than fifteen to one. The Instagram bio sells an app rather than a newspaper, promising latest news, local news from more than three hundred cities and short video news, with a download link. A paper built on local editions has translated that structure straight into a mobile product, and the audience followed it there rather than to video.

Instagram: @divyabhaskar_in (verified 2026-07-29).

17Gujarat Samachar

Gujarat Samachar@gujaratsamacharofficialView profile

YouTube subscribers: 112 thousand · Lifetime views: 43.6 million · Videos: 14,745 · Channel started: 19 December 2022 · Published by: Lok Prakashan Limited · Instagram followers: 1.18 million

Gujarat Samachar is the leading Gujarati language daily in India, published by Lok Prakashan Limited out of Ahmedabad with a branch in Surat, and distributed from Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara, Rajkot, Bhavnagar, Bhuj, Mehsana, Mumbai and New York City. That last dateline matters more than it looks. A Gujarati newspaper printing an edition for New York is a description of where Gujarati readers actually live.

Its verified Instagram account is held under the Lok Prakashan Limited name, carries 1.18 million followers and describes the paper as the world's highest read Gujarati newspaper, which is the publisher's own claim and is reported here as such rather than as a verified circulation figure. The YouTube channel is comparatively new, opened in December 2022, and has 112 thousand subscribers from 14,745 videos. Ten times more Gujaratis follow this masthead on Instagram than subscribe to it on YouTube, which is a fair summary of what happened to newspaper video in India.

Instagram: @gujaratsamacharofficial (verified 2026-07-29).

18Gujaratmitra

Founded: 1863, Surat · YouTube subscribers: 5.52 thousand · Lifetime views: 1.04 million · Videos: 747 · Channel started: 17 October 2015 · Instagram followers: 215 thousand

Gujaratmitra was founded in Surat in 1863 and is one of the oldest newspapers in India, older than the Indian National Congress by twenty two years. It still publishes daily, it runs an ePaper, and it is the only masthead on this page whose history predates electricity in Gujarat. Its own YouTube description states the founding year and then, without ceremony, offers to keep you connected to the news on the go.

The numbers are the most instructive contrast in this whole file. The YouTube channel has 5.52 thousand subscribers and 747 videos in eleven years. The Instagram account has 215 thousand followers and posts several times an hour: an IMD heavy rain warning for Ahmedabad with a yellow alert across ten districts, the eighth day of Parliament's monsoon session and the anti paper leak bill, each written as a Gujarati headline followed by five short bullet lines. A 163 year old newspaper never learned to make video and did not need to. It learned to make a card, which is the same thing it had always made, only square.

What the numbers say

Gujarati news measured by views per upload, not by subscribers, captured 29 July 2026

BBC News Gujarati29,121 uploads28,800 views per video
Gujarat Tak42,931 uploads17,900 views per video
News18 Gujarati277,229 uploads14,600 views per video
TV9 Gujarati348,327 uploads9,380 views per video
Zee 24 Kalak233,487 uploads7,560 views per video
VTV Gujarati199,158 uploads7,460 views per video
ABP Asmita351,159 uploads7,360 views per video
GSTV News245,221 uploads5,830 views per video
Gujarat First93,506 uploads5,120 views per video
NewsCapital Gujarat39,878 uploads3,680 views per video
Sandesh News268,646 uploads3,100 views per video
Abtak Media82,302 uploads796 views per video

Each bar is the brand's lifetime view total divided by its video count, both read off its own YouTube about page on 29 July 2026, then rounded. These are averages across the whole life of a channel and not a measure of current performance, so a channel that has changed strategy will be flattened by its own back catalogue. The figures are shown here rather than subscriber counts because subscribers reward age and volume while this ratio rewards whether anyone actually watched, and the ordering it produces is close to the reverse of the subscriber ranking.

Questions people actually ask

Which is the biggest Gujarati news channel?

By YouTube subscribers it is TV9 Gujarati at 4.98 million as of 29 July 2026. By total lifetime views it is News18 Gujarati at 4.05 billion. By Instagram following it is Zee 24 Kalak at 3.08 million, which is larger than its own YouTube subscriber base. All three answers are correct and they are three different channels, which is why this page publishes all of them.

Why does BBC News Gujarati beat Indian channels on views with far fewer videos?

Because it publishes reported pieces and explainers instead of clipping every television bulletin into its own upload. BBC News Gujarati has 29,121 videos and 839 million views, an average of about 28,800 views each. Sandesh News has 268,646 videos and 831 million views, an average of about 3,100 each. The BBC has now passed a ninety nine year old Gujarati media house on total views using roughly one ninth as many uploads.

Who owns the main Gujarati news channels?

News18 Gujarati belongs to Network18, in which Reliance Industries holds the controlling stake. Zee 24 Kalak belongs to Zee Media Corporation. ABP Asmita belongs to the ABP Network, whose parent group was founded in Kolkata in 1922. Gujarat Tak belongs to the India Today group. VTV Gujarati is operated by Sambhaav Nascent LLP. Divya Bhaskar is owned by D B Corp Ltd and Gujarat Samachar is published by Lok Prakashan Limited. DD Girnar and DD News Gujarati are Prasar Bharati properties run from Doordarshan Kendra, Ahmedabad.

What is the oldest Gujarati newspaper still publishing?

Gujaratmitra of Surat, founded in 1863, which makes it one of the oldest newspapers in India. Sandesh followed in Ahmedabad in 1923 and Divya Bhaskar is the youngest of the three big mastheads here. Gujaratmitra's modern audience is almost entirely on Instagram, where it has 215 thousand followers against 5.52 thousand YouTube subscribers, a gap of nearly forty to one.

How were these numbers verified and how current are they?

All of them were captured on 29 July 2026. YouTube subscriber counts, lifetime views, video counts and start dates were read directly off each brand's own about page, and Instagram follower counts came from a live scrape of each profile on the same day. Nothing was taken from a media kit, a rate card or an analytics blog. Circulation and readership claims are the one exception: where a brand asserts it is the largest or most read, that is reported as the brand's own claim, because no independent audited figure was checked.
