Most regional producers dream of getting out: a hit at home, a remake sold upward, a Mumbai calling card. Vaishal Shah went to Mumbai and then spent the money on the way back. Born in Ahmedabad on 10 November 1984, he has producer credits in three languages and runs Jannock Films from Ahmedabad rather than from a Juhu office. The interesting thing on his record is not the eight Gujarati features. It is the direction of travel. Every relationship he built outside the language has been pointed back into it, and the most expensive name in Indian cinema turning up in a Gujarati comedy is the clearest evidence of what that is worth.
The arc
01One of eight
Chhello Divas released on 20 November 2015 with eight producers on it and Vaishal Shah first among them. Krishnadev Yagnik wrote and directed, Belvedere Films was the banner, and the film reported Rs 18 crore against a reported Rs 2.8 crore budget. It also put Malhar Thakar, Yash Soni and Mitra Gadhavi on screen together for the first time.
The next two years are the least glamorous part of the record and the part that decides everything after it. Karsandas Pay & Use in 2017, produced with Nilay Chotai on an estimated Rs 1.5 crore and reporting Rs 8 crore. Shu Thayu? on 24 August 2018 with Mahesh Danannavar and Akshay Bhagwanji, reporting Rs 21 crore. Vandha Villas the same year. Four Gujarati films in four years, all profitable on the reported numbers, which in this industry is an unusual thing to be able to say out loud.
02The trip up
In 2021 his name appears on a Hindi film for the first time in the producer column. Chehre, directed by Rumi Jaffery, carried a reported Rs 25 crore budget, starred Amitabh Bachchan and Emraan Hashmi, and released on 27 August 2021 through Pen Marudhar. Shah is credited as co-producer alongside Anand Pandit, whose company Anand Pandit Motion Pictures made it with Saraswati Entertainment.
On a Gujarati producer's highlight reel Chehre does not belong. It is a Hindi thriller made in Mumbai with none of his usual collaborators. It is also the single most consequential credit he holds, because the two things that came out of it, a working partnership with Pandit and a professional relationship with Bachchan, are the reason the following decade of his filmography looks the way it does.
03The direction reverses
Fakt Mahilao Maate released on 19 August 2022, directed by Jay Bodas, produced by Anand Pandit and Vaishal Shah, and reported a gross of around Rs 20 crore. Amitabh Bachchan appeared in it, which was his Gujarati film debut. Read against the calendar, that is a twelve month turnaround from a Hindi co-production credit to a Gujarati film carrying the biggest name in Indian cinema.
The pattern held. 3 Ekka on 25 August 2023, made by Anand Pandit Motion Pictures with Jannock Films, reported around Rs 26.11 crore and brought the Chhello Divas trio back together after eight years. Fakt Purusho Maate on 23 August 2024, with Bachchan again. Chaniya Toli on 21 October 2025, made on a reported Rs 5 crore and reporting Rs 22.80 crore. Four films, four Augusts and Octobers, the same two producers on every card.
04Three languages, one desk
Alongside the Gujarati slate he is credited as co-producer on the Marathi films Baap Manus in 2023 and Musafiraa in 2024, both with Pandit. Jannock Films also runs talent management and produces advertising, which in a market where a banner might release once a year is the difference between a company and a project.
The next title announced with Pandit is Asambhauu, listed for 2026. Nothing in that sequence looks like a producer trying to leave Gujarati cinema. It looks like a producer who worked out that a Gujarati release is the cheapest place in Indian film to put a rupee, and that the useful thing to import is not a script but a phone number.
The work that matters
A Hindi thriller with no Gujarati content at all, and the load bearing credit on this page. Everything Gujarati cinema got from Amitabh Bachchan and Anand Pandit afterwards is downstream of a co-producer credit on a film almost nobody counts when they list Vaishal Shah's work.
Not Chhello Divas. Shu Thayu? is the proof that the first one was not luck, made with the same director and much of the same cast three years later, and reporting around Rs 21 crore. A producer's second act with the same collaborators is a harder test than the debut.
A reported Rs 5 crore budget reporting a Rs 22.80 crore gross. On the numbers that is the best ratio on his record, and it arrived a decade into the partnership model rather than at the start of it.

The numbers
Reported gross of the Gujarati films Vaishal Shah produced
Every figure here is industry-reported and none of it is audited, because Gujarati cinema has no certified box office tracker. Films on his slate with no published gross, including Vandha Villas and Fakt Purusho Maate, are left out rather than estimated.
Questions people ask
How many films has Vaishal Shah produced?
Eight Gujarati features carry a verified producer credit: Chhello Divas (2015), Karsandas Pay & Use (2017), Shu Thayu? and Vandha Villas (2018), Fakt Mahilao Maate (2022), 3 Ekka (2023), Fakt Purusho Maate (2024) and Chaniya Toli (2025). He is also co-producer on the Hindi film Chehre and the Marathi films Baap Manus and Musafiraa, with Asambhauu listed for 2026.
How did Amitabh Bachchan end up in a Gujarati film?
Through a Hindi credit first. Shah co-produced Chehre with Anand Pandit in 2021, a film starring Bachchan and Emraan Hashmi. The same two producers then made Fakt Mahilao Maate in August 2022, which was Bachchan's Gujarati film debut, and he appeared again in their Fakt Purusho Maate in 2024.
What is Jannock Films?
Vaishal Shah's Ahmedabad company, registered as Jannock Films LLP. Alongside features it runs talent management and produces advertising. Its studio credit appears on 3 Ekka, Fakt Purusho Maate and Chaniya Toli, each made with Anand Pandit Motion Pictures.
Which Vaishal Shah film made the most money?
On reported figures, 3 Ekka in 2023 at around Rs 26.11 crore, with Chaniya Toli in 2025 close behind at a reported Rs 22.80 crore. Chaniya Toli has the better ratio, since it was made on a reported budget of Rs 5 crore. All of these are industry-reported numbers and none of them are audited.
Does Vaishal Shah work outside Gujarati cinema?
Yes, in Hindi and Marathi, and always as a co-producer rather than the lead financier. Chehre in 2021, Baap Manus in 2023 and Musafiraa in 2024 are all shared credits with Anand Pandit. His sole producer credits stay in Gujarati.
