The defining Gujarati web series is Vitthal Teedi (2021), directed by Abhishek Jain and starring Pratik Gandhi, which launched OHO Gujarati, the language's only dedicated streaming platform, on 7 May 2021. Gujarati originals live on four services: OHO Gujarati, ShemarooMe, SonyLIV and MX Player. The oldest verified title is Kacho Papad Pako Papad (2017), which was the first original SonyLIV ever released in any language, and the newest is ShemarooMe's Kajodu, out on 14 May 2026.
Pratik Gandhi's Scam 1992 landed on SonyLIV in October 2020 and made a Gujarati theatre and film actor bankable on national OTT overnight. That show is in Hindi, so it has no place on this list, but it is the reason this list exists. Five months later the same actor headlined Vitthal Teedi in Gujarati, on a Gujarati-only app that had not existed the week before. Whatever momentum the Gujarati web series has, it borrowed from that moment.
What follows is short on purpose. Gujarati OTT is one of the least documented corners of Indian streaming: almost none of these shows has a Wikipedia page, trade coverage stopped after the launch press release, and the platforms publish catalogue tiles rather than credits. So every title here was checked against the streaming platform's own metadata, cross read against a second source wherever one existed, and dropped when the two did not agree. Sixteen shows cleared that bar. Roughly the same number did not, and they are named at the bottom rather than quietly padded in.

How this list was built
Only Gujarati-language series made for streaming qualify. No theatrical films, and no daily television serials that later appeared on an app. Every entry had to carry a verifiable platform, director, principal cast, season or episode count and release date, plus either a free-licensed photograph of a credited lead or a scrape-verified official Instagram account. Facts came from the platforms' own structured listings, which is the only complete record that exists: ShemarooMe publishes cast and director in its page metadata, and the OHO Gujarati catalogue inside ZEE5 publishes release date and episode totals. English Wikipedia, The Movie Database and contemporary trade reports were used as the second source. Titles dropped for missing credits: Chaskela, Tuition, Ka.Kha.Ga, 110, Clean Bold, Happily Never After, OK Boss, Reena's Beauty Studio, Ithaar, Captain Bahadur, Loading Locha, Moh Maya Machine and Raman Bhaman, all OHO Gujarati originals with a verified release date and no traceable director. Aazaad was dropped because its only director credit sits on a single crowd-edited database and nobody in its cast has a free photograph or a confirmable handle. Friend Zone was dropped because ShemarooMe lists its release as 1 January, a catalogue default rather than a real date. Maatli Chirani, Arranged with Love and Tikkhi Mitthi Life have complete credits but no free-licensed image and no separate verified account, and Tikkhi Mitthi Life shares its lead with Poori Paani, which is already here. Non-Alcoholic Breakup was dropped on a live contradiction: Aarohi Patel's own filmography dates it 2019 on MX Player, the OHO catalogue dates it 7 May 2021. Prem Ni Bhavai was excluded as a 386 episode daily serial, not a web original. Kacho Papad Pako Papad ships without an episode count because Wikipedia's infobox says 12 and its own episode table says 10. On images, OHO Gujarati has no findable official Instagram presence, so no platform account was used as a fallback; ShemarooMe's real account is shemaroome_official, confirmed at 777,000 followers. The OHO Gujarati originals
OHO Gujarati opened in May 2021, built by CineMan Productions, the company behind Kevi Rite Jaish and Bey Yaar. It is the only streaming service ever built for one Indian language spoken by one state, and for about eighteen months it commissioned faster than anyone else in Gujarati.
1Vitthal Teedi
Every conversation about the Gujarati web series starts here, and the show earned that position rather than inherited it. Abhishek Jain directed it from Bhargav Purohit's script, adapted from Mukesh Sojitra's short story of the same name, and released it as Chapter 1 on 7 May 2021. Six episodes, roughly 24 to 33 minutes each. Pratik Gandhi plays Vitthal Tripathi, a temple priest's son in a 1980s Gujarat village who mispronounces the Gujarati word for three as teedi and wears the nickname for the rest of his life. Ragi Jani plays his father Tribhuvandas, Brinda Trivedi his sister Vandana, Shraddha Dangar plays Manisha, and Prem Gadhvi, Prashant Barot and Jagjeetsinh Vadher fill in the card table around him. Tapan Vyas shot it. Kedar and Bhargav scored it.
The timing was the entire strategy. Gandhi had come off Scam 1992 five months earlier and was suddenly a name outside Gujarat, and Vitthal Teedi pointed all of that attention at a Gujarati-language show on a Gujarati-only app. CineMan Productions launched the platform and its flagship on the same day, which almost never happens: usually a service buys a library first and commissions later. The season closes with Vitthal narrating his own story, which reads as a runway for a second chapter. Five years on, Chapter 1 is still the only chapter.

2Kadak Mitthi
Four seasons of five episodes each between May 2021 and December 2022, which makes Kadak Mitthi the longest running scripted Gujarati original that anyone actually finished. Aarohi Patel plays Shivangi, a daughter who has never lived outside her own house and now has a job in a metro city. Aarti Patel plays her mother Mayuri. Almost the whole show is a phone call. Anish Shah directed the first season and Aalap Tanna the second. Season one landed on 20 May 2021, thirteen days after Vitthal Teedi, which tells you how hard OHO was pushing in its first month.
The format is the argument. A two hander conducted over the phone was the cheapest show anyone could make in the middle of a pandemic, and it turned out to be the most repeatable thing on the platform, because the premise renews itself every time the daughter has a new problem. ShemarooMe later licensed the first two seasons, which is how most viewers outside the OHO app found it at all. Aarohi Patel's own filmography records it as seasons one to four across 2021 and 2022, which is the cleanest confirmation of the run that exists anywhere.

3Cutting
Cutting puts a salon on screen and lets the customers carry the plot. Sunny, played by Mayur Chauhan, and Bobby, played by Hemang Shah, run the chair. Everybody else walks in with a problem and walks out with a haircut and something close to an answer. Pratik Kothari directed, with Abhinav Vaidya credited alongside him as co-creator. The first season ran five episodes from 20 May 2021 and finished on 17 June. ZEE5's OHO catalogue lists three seasons in total, the deepest run of any OHO title apart from Kadak Mitthi.
It is an anthology wearing a sitcom's clothes, and that is what made it viable. One standing set, two fixed leads, and a rotating bench of Ahmedabad theatre actors including Revanta Sarabhai, Archan Trivedi, Nisarg Trivedi, Girish Brahmbhatt and Alisha Prajapati, any of whom can be written in or out without touching the format. The credit trail is a good illustration of how thin this record is: the biggest film database on the internet holds no cast list for Cutting at all, and the only full ensemble on the public record is the one ShemarooMe publishes in its own page metadata.

4Sambhlo Chho
Five episodes of vaachikam, the Gujarati performance tradition of dramatic reading, applied to short stories by Zaverchand Meghani. Gaurang Kabira directed. Abhinay Banker leads a company of fourteen stage actors including Chetan Daiya, Prem Gadhavi, Ojas Rawal, Aarti Patel and Mayur Chauhan, who perform the stories rather than act them out, with intonation and expression doing the work that sets and coverage usually do. It arrived on 30 May 2021, three weeks into the platform's life.
This is the least commercial thing OHO commissioned and probably the most revealing. A new streaming service in any language normally opens with comedy, crime and romance, because those are the categories that convert trials into subscriptions. Instead OHO put money into a filmed reading of a Gujarati literary canon that has no equivalent on any national platform. Whether it worked is unmeasurable, since the platform never released viewing figures, but as a statement of what a language-specific service is for, it is unmatched on this list.

5MannFiltred
Five episodes in which Gujarat's best known motivational speakers argue positions on subjects the state does not usually discuss on camera. Gaurang Kabira directed this one too, a month after Sambhlo Chho. Ojas Rawal anchors, with Jitendra Adhia, Bhagyesh Jha, Sanjay Raval and Sajan Shah taking the chairs. The title is spelled MannFiltred in the OHO catalogue and MannFiltered on ShemarooMe, a small detail that captures how loosely this material is catalogued.
Unscripted matters more to a young regional platform than the scripted slate does, because it is cheap, it renews weekly, and it turns local recognition into subscriptions without a star fee. OHO ran a second strand in the same vein, Har Ghadi Mauj, with Rawal interviewing a celebrity a week from September 2021. That the same anchor appears on both is not a coincidence: the working pool of on-camera Gujarati talent that can carry unscripted television is small enough to fit in one room.

6Riverfront Stories
Four self-contained episodes built on a single line: when places become emotions. Pratik Rajen Kothari directed, Divya Thakore wrote, and the Sabarmati riverfront in Ahmedabad works as the connective tissue between four unrelated stories. The cast is the strongest ensemble OHO assembled, with Tiku Talsania and Ketki Dave, both of whom have four decades of Hindi television and film behind them, alongside Archan Trivedi, Vaibhavi Bhatt, Girish Brahmbhatt and Kinnal Nayak. The finale, Vaat Raat Maan, closed the run at the end of December 2021.
The anthology is the format that suits Gujarati OTT best and the one it has used least. Four half hours need no sustained audience commitment, they let a platform test four tones at once, and they let a small industry cast six recognisable faces without paying six leads for six weeks. Riverfront Stories is also the only OHO title that treats Ahmedabad as a subject rather than a backdrop, which is a strange gap for a service that existed specifically to make work about this state.

7Ghaat
Shashwat held the most valuable spot at the centre of the ghaat, which made him its unofficial ruler. The spot is now vacant. That is the whole engine of the show, and it is a better logline than most Gujarati films manage. Rahul Bhole and Vinit Kanojia directed as a pair, Kashyap Vyas wrote it, and the five episodes went out on 18 March 2022. Vaibhav Biniwale, Pramath, Kunal Dhanani, Rakesh Modi, Manish Rohit and Mehul Vyas take the disputed territory.
The launch announcements billed Bhole and Kanojia as national award winning directors, which is how a platform with no marketing budget buys credibility: borrow it from the credits. Ghaat is also the closest thing OHO made to a power drama, a small closed world with a vacant throne and a queue of claimants, and it is the OHO title that travelled furthest, since ShemarooMe carries it too. The word ghaat carries both meanings in Gujarati, the steps down to the water and the plot against someone, and the show uses both.

The ShemarooMe Gujarati slate
Shemaroo has been in the Gujarati business since long before streaming, through plays, film libraries and the Shemaroo Gujarati channel. Its app commissions Gujarati originals and licenses OHO's, which makes it the single largest Gujarati catalogue anywhere, and the only one still adding titles in 2026.
8Vaat Vaat Ma
Pahel and Swayam want a divorce and want it fast, so they hire a lawyer to come over and take the signatures. He arrives, and a nationwide lockdown is announced while he is in the flat. Kartavya Shah directed, Malhar Thakar plays Swayam and Puja Joshi plays Pahel, with Chetan Daiya, Kalpesh Patel and Morli Patel around them. Five episodes in 2021, followed by Vaat Vaat Ma Returns in July 2022 with six more and Kinjal Rajpriya added, then Vaat Vaat Ma Adla Badli in February 2024 with six more and Archan Trivedi and Vaibhavi Bhatt joining.
It is the only Gujarati web series that has become a franchise. Three installments over four years with the same two leads is not a run any Gujarati original had managed before, and it works because the premise is a pressure cooker rather than a story arc: put two people who want out in one room and lock the door. Almost every other Indian series made in 2020 and 2021 treated the lockdown as a production constraint to hide. This one made it the third character.

9Poori Paani
Eight episodes, released on 22 September 2021, with a cast list thirteen names deep, which is unusually generous for a Gujarati original. Jhinal Belani plays Mansi, opposite Bhaumik Sampat, with Muni Jha, Sejal Shah, Sonali Lele Desai, Kaushambi Bhatt, Bhavini Jani, Sunil Vishrani and Deep Dholakia around them. ShemarooMe credits Vaibhav Kerlekar as director. Trade coverage at the time filed it under Deep Dholakia's name, and Dholakia also appears in the cast, so the two credits sit side by side unresolved and this page reports both rather than choosing.
Belani is worth following through this list on her own account. She wrote, directed and starred in her own Gujarati series, Tu Ane Hun, shot from scratch during the 2020 lockdown and released on YouTube, then took the lead in Poori Paani for a platform a year later, then anchored Tikkhi Mitthi Life for the same platform in 2023. That is three Gujarati streaming projects in four years, which in this industry counts as a career rather than a run of jobs.

10Benaqaab
Nine episodes, the longest single-season order of any title on this page, released on 23 December 2021 and directed by Nimesh Diliprai Desai. Puja Joshi plays Anushka Sheshadri, with Tannaz Irani, Amee Trivedi, Kuldeep Gor, Dilip Darbar, Linesh Fanse and Rahul Antani. Joshi's own filmography records it as a Gujarati production that was also dubbed into Hindi, which no other title here attempted.
That Hindi dub is the most interesting decision on the ShemarooMe slate. Every other Gujarati original on this list was made for people who already speak Gujarati, which caps the audience at the size of the language. Benaqaab was built to be sold twice. It is also the show that gave Puja Joshi two credits in one December, since Vaat Vaat Ma was already running, and between the two she is the most prolific performer in Gujarati streaming.

11Luv Rekha
Two colleagues at the same company, the two smartest people in the building, meet anonymously on a social app and start liking each other before either works out who the other one is. Luv is quiet and conflict averse, Rekha is fast and ambitious. Hiren Doshi directed six episodes, released on 29 December 2021, with Alisha Prajapati and Rahul Rawal carrying the entire thing between them.
A two-hander is the default shape of the Gujarati original, and Luv Rekha is the purest example of it: one office, two actors, one conceit that resolves the moment they identify each other, which is exactly why it runs six episodes and not sixteen. Prajapati had already appeared in the OHO ensemble of Cutting earlier the same year, so this is her first outing as a lead, and the show is built entirely around whether the audience will sit with the two of them for half an hour at a time.

12Goti Soda
Five seasons between 27 January 2022 and 12 September 2024, which makes Goti Soda the longest running Gujarati streaming title by season count. Sanjay Goradia plays Praful, called Pappu, a stock market broker whose only ambition is to drink one cup of tea in peace and whose family will not allow it. Sunil Suchak directed the first two seasons and Divyesh Pathak the next three. Episode orders run six, seven, six, six and six, with Prarthi Dholakia, Pratham Bhatt, Jiya Bhatt, Bhavini Jani and Sunil Vishrani as the household.
Goradia has produced Gujarati commercial theatre for decades, and Goti Soda is that tradition transferred to a phone screen without apology: three generations in one flat, escalating domestic disasters, jokes built to land in a hall. It is not trying to be prestige television and it is not competing with Vitthal Teedi. It is competing with the two hour play that the same audience would otherwise buy a ticket for, which is a far more realistic business than anything else on this page, and the five season run is the evidence.

13Matsyavedh
A police officer goes undercover to unpick a murder planned by an intelligent psychologist, and by the time the plan is exposed the question has stopped being who did it and started being whether justice and righteousness are the same thing. Nirav Barot directed five episodes, released on 6 October 2022. Manav Gohil plays Parth, opposite RJ Devki. The title is the Sanskrit name for Arjuna's fish-eye archery test, which is a heavy piece of naming for a crime thriller and entirely deliberate.
This is the only straight genre attempt on the list, and it is a useful test of what Gujarati streaming can carry. Comedy and relationship drama survive a small budget because the constraint reads as intimacy. A thriller does not, because it needs locations, night shoots and a real cat and mouse structure to land. Barot delivers it as a two-hander of interrogation and counter-interrogation instead, which is the honest way to make this show for this money, and Gohil, who has three decades of Hindi television behind him, is the reason it holds.

14Kajodu
A desperate man takes a marriage broker's no questions asked offer, and the bride who arrives is not the woman she appears to be. Vishal Vada Vala directed six episodes, streaming from 14 May 2026, with Mitra Gadhvi and Esha Kansara leading and Nakshraaj, Hitesh Thaker, Jagjeetsinh Vadher, Rahul Raval and Hetal Barot around them. Kajodu is a Gujarati word for a badly matched pair, which is the joke and the threat in one syllable, and the show plays it as romance for two episodes before turning it into a thriller.
It is the newest verified Gujarati original by four years, and that gap is the story. The 2021 rush produced ten of the sixteen shows on this page, then the commissioning slowed to almost nothing. Kajodu arriving in 2026 with a director who works in Gujarati features, two leads with real theatrical box office behind them and a genre premise rather than a slice-of-life one suggests the second wave, if there is one, will look less like a lockdown experiment and more like a film.

The national platforms that got there first
Before Gujarat had a streaming service of its own, two national platforms made Gujarati shows. One of them made a Gujarati show before it made anything else at all.
15Kacho Papad Pako Papad
The first Gujarati web series, released on 19 May 2017, four years before OHO Gujarati existed. Chetan Sharma directed. Hasmukh Gandhi wrote and produced it under the M2 Entertainment banner. Bhakti Rathod, Sagar Dariyai, Rupa Divatia and Pratap Sachdeo play a joint family called the Maniyars who take every ordinary problem and make it structurally unsound, starting with a son bringing home a partner the household is not ready for. Sukumar Dutta composed, and SonyLIV released a companion music video, Aadat Che Tu, on 5 June 2017 with lyrics by Bharat Kumar Joshi.
The detail that gets left out of every retelling is on SonyLIV's own record: this Gujarati romantic comedy was the first original the platform ever commissioned in any language. A national service with a Hindi-first audience opened its originals slate in Gujarati, in 2017, when regional streaming was not yet a strategy anyone had written down. The episode count is the one thing this page will not state, because Wikipedia's own infobox says twelve and its own episode table lists ten, and picking between them would be inventing a fact rather than reporting one.

16Do Not Disturb
Maulik and Meera are a modern Gujarati couple and the show lives almost entirely in their bedroom, where the conversations they cannot have anywhere else get had. Saandeep Patel directed, credited as Sandeep Patel in some reports, off a script by Mitai Shukla and Nehal Bakshi. Malhar Thakar plays Maulik, Manasi Parekh plays Meera, with Happy Bhavasar and Parth Oza alongside. The trailer went out on 20 July 2019 and MX Player launched the show that month. A second season followed from 23 December 2020.
MX Player commissioned it as part of a deliberate vernacular push, launching Gujarati alongside Marathi and Tamil originals in the same wave, and it remains the only Gujarati series a national free platform has run to two seasons. It also marks Manasi Parekh's first credit as a producer, five years before she won the National Film Award for Best Actress for Kutch Express. Thakar's other Gujarati series, Vaat Vaat Ma, arrived two years later with a near-identical setup of a couple stuck in a room, which suggests the format was learned here.
